The afternoon of the 7th of April arrived and I left my home going in faith.
I entered the Council Chamber confident that God was with me. With one candle lit, a palm cross, and a few printed written prayers, I then prepared myself for the wait.
One by one those who were willing came and joined in with me on that quiet afternoon. Since that day some of the employees cannot wait for me to join with them again in another afternoon of fellowship, to reflect on the love of God.
Going in Faith
Una Chandler Chaplain to the Reading Borough Council, writes about a recent experience in her chaplaincy.
On the 3rd of March I arranged a meeting with the Reading Borough Council Chief Executive, Trish Haines. After she had welcomed me warmly, we spoke briefly about my work as chaplain to Reading Borough Council.
I asked her to grant me an open-afternoon planned for Wednesday 7th of April as a lent reflection and meditation. Without hesitation the decision was made and the Council Chamber was booked.
Trish then gave her consent for e-mail messages to be sent to all of the council employees.
